Original songs of Minnesota unsung heroes! Loretta wrote these songs, about real-life people who overcame great challenges.
Peter Razor, the subject of Loretta's song, "Where the North Wind Blows," will be on hand to speak to the audience and answer questions after the concert. Peter grew up at the Owatonna State Orphanage in the 1930s and 40s. It was a rough, loveless upbringing, compounded with the bias he encountered as a Native American. At 15, he was put on "farm indenture," working for a farmer in southern Minnesota. This farmer was an alcoholic who abused Peter and nearly killed him one night. But Peter escaped, and the next farm he was placed on was in Caledonia, MN. Lee and Pat Klug took him into their home on the farm, and ended up turning Peter's life around. They were the first kind people he had encountered, and he decided to "be like them!" Mrs Pat Klug still lives on the same farm, outside Caledonia.

This will be a show celebrating the 100th anniversary of music legend Pete Seeger! This multi-media show will feature Pete's sing-alongs like "Where Have all the Flowers Gone," "Turn, Turn, Turn," and "If I Had a Hammer," that helped shape a generation in the 1960s.
With back stories and projected photos, we’ll delve into Pete’s history and his passion for social justice (including civil rights, the environment, labor issues, and equality), and how it informed the songs he wrote and sang. This program is not only entertaining, but educational as it shows the “behind the scenes” stories of how Pete’s music played into the panoramic backdrop that was the Sixties.
