CONCERTS IN MINNESOTA THIS MONTH

October 13 marks the beginning of our "When There's Good to Be Done" tour!!

We kick off this tour featuring songs of Minnesota unsung heroes, in Willmar, Minnesota on Saturday, Oct 13. Willmar was the site of a historic bank strike by 8 women in 1977. They came to be known as the Willmar 8.

Last Leg of our Western Tour, in California!

We are on the final leg of our Go West tour! We drove through beautiful mountains today in Oregon and northern California, and we are gearing up for our next gig! Wednesday, it's a noon-time concert in downtown Sacramento. Friday we're live on KKUP Radio in San Jose. Saturday we're at Fiddling Cricket Concerts in Santa Cruz, and Sunday we're on KPIG Radio in the Monterey Bay area. Please check out all the details here!!

West Coast Tour Continues

We've had such a wonderful time doing concerts on the West Coast. We've gotten to connect with lots of old friends (musicians and audience members), and made many new ones. After several concerts in Washington, we're in Portland, OR now. We've got a House Concert here Friday, then a concert in Ridgefield, OR (near Vancouver) on Saturday. Please come join us if you're in the area!

Loretta is finalist in Song Contest

We are so happy to announce that I'm a finalist in the 2018 Jane Titland Memorial Song Contest at Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland, Washington. Congratulations to all ten of the finalists, and we look forward to meeting all of you!

The song contest will be Saturday, Sept 1 on the West Stage at 4:15 pm. We'll also be performing at the festival. We do a set on the North Stage Saturday Sept 1 at 2 pm, and a workshop with songs of unsung heroes titled "When There's Good to Be Done," in Workshop Space 2 on Sunday, Sept 2 at 11 am.

Two Concerts in Minnesota this weekend

We've got two concerts at two of our favorite venues in Minnesota, this weekend!!

Friday, March 9 at 7:30 pm we'll be at Creek House Concerts in New Brighton. This is the "Carnegie of House Concerts!" Along with the stage in Glenn Elvig's expansive living room, there is professional sound and lighting! Glenn is doing a set, then we'll have intermission, and we do a set. Doors open at 7 pm, so you can come in, get a seat, and have some delicious goodies to eat.

Saturday, March 10 at 8 pm we'll be at Oak Center General Store eleven miles southwest of Lake City. This charming venue has been going since the 1970s. There's a general store on the first floor, the concert hall upstairs, and an organic farm out back! There's always a potluck dinner here before the show.

All the details are here!!

Curtis & Loretta awarded Arts Tour Minnesota Grant

Back in July, 2017, Loretta applied for the Arts Tour Minnesota Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. We just got some great news. We got the grant!!

Curtis & Loretta will do concerts at 22 locations across greater Minnesota, singing original songs of unsung Minnesota heroes from our CD, "When There's Good to Be Done." Thank you to the Arts Board, and the voters of the State of Minnesota, who voted to create the Legacy Fund for projects such as this, back in 2008.

No Depression reviews "When There's Good to Be Done"

"When There's Good to Be Done" just got a really good review in No Depression (The Journal of Roots Music). The reviewer, Frank Gutch, wrote to me, "There is too little of this type of Modern Folk being done these days."

Bothy Folk Club re-opens with C & L giving first concert

The legendary Bothy Folk Club had monthly concerts in Mankato, Minnesota, for many, many years. We were honored to perform in this wonderful listening room several times, and we were sad when it closed down a few years ago. But the GOOD NEWS is that founder Michael Bonner has started it up again, and Curtis & Loretta will give the first concert, on Saturday, February 4. It'll be in the same place it used to be, the Eagles Club in downtown Mankato. Click here for all the details

The Critics Say...

"Loretta's almost operatic alto and Curtis' rich tenor form a lush, polished and varied vocal blend. The pair's instrumental interplay is equally compelling, with Loretta's harp textures dancing in and around Curtis' deft guitar and mandolin lines."
